This benchmark is the result of some work done for Equinix, Inc..

Squid runs on a machine with:

• Dual Pentium III Xeon 550Mhz Processors
• 2 GB RAM
• 10 9GB disks for cache space

The system runs FreeBSD (4.1?). To get past ~350 req/sec, I lowered the TCP MSL to 15 seconds. Also note that this is an ``interception caching'' configuration. I'm using the FreeBSD firewall code to divert connections to the cache.
